Four Graduates to Play NCAA Division I Basketball

2015 La Lumiere School graduates Alex Olesinski, Jalen Coleman-Lands, Drew Cayce, and Munis Tutu.

Four La Lumiere School graduates from the class of 2015 will play Division I collegiate basketball beginning in the fall of 2015. Drew Cayce of Libertyville, Ill. will attend Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. and play as a member of the Bluejays men’s basketball team; Jalen Coleman-Lands of Indianapolis will attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and play as a member of the Fighting Illini men’s basketball team; Alex Olesinski of Roswell, N.M. will attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and play as a member of the Bruins men’s basketball team; and Munis Tutu of Windsor, Ont. in Canada will attend Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Calif. and play on the Lions men’s basketball team.

Drew Cayce was an integral part of the School over the last two years. He was a 2-year starter for the boy’s basketball team and averaged 9.8 points and 2.8 assists per game for the Lakers during his senior campaign.
In addition to his success on the court, Drew was also an exemplary student and ambassador during his time at
La Lumiere School. A member of the National Honor Society, Drew was named to the Academic Honor Roll every semester and also served as a residential prefect this past academic school year. He will continue his academic and athletic ventures at Creighton University where he will enroll in the nationally ranked Heider College of Business

Jalen Coleman-Lands was essential to the La Lumiere community for the last two years. A 2-year starter for the boy’s basketball team, Jalen averaged 23.2 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game during his senior season, which culminated in Jalen being named First Team All-State by USA Today. In addition to his on-court success, Jalen was the recipient of the Traute and Miller Bransfield Award, the highest award bestowed on an underclassmen, recognizing the student “who best represents the La Lumiere ideal.” Jalen will continue his academic and athletic careers at the University of Illinois where he plans to pursue a degree in business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship.

Alex Olesinski was vital member of the La Lumiere community for the last two years. A 2-year starter for the boy’s basketball team, Alex averaged 13.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game during his senior season. Alex was also a member of La Lumiere’s National Honor Society and was named to the Honor Roll every semester he attended La Lumiere. Alex will continue his academic and athletic endeavors at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he plans to enroll in the nationally recognized Anderson School of Management.

Munis Tutu was a staple of the La Lumiere community the last three years. A 2-year starter for the boy’s basketball team, Munis averaged 8.8 points and 7.3 assists per game during his senior season at La Lumiere. Munis will continue his academic and athletic careers at Loyola Marymount University, and plans to enroll in the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts where he will pursue a degree in history.
