La Lumiere Adds Accomplished Alumni to Board

newtrustees_2013La Lumiere School added two Trustees at the latest board meeting welcoming Michigan City native Dan Kerrigan, Class of 1980 and Victor Smith, Class of 1986.  Board Chairman, James Kaminski stated: “Both Mr. Kerrigan and Mr. Smith bring a wealth of talent to the La Lumiere board at a critical time as the School has experienced unprecedented growth in academic programs, consecutive years of increased quality enrollment, and active engagement of parents and alumni. As the School celebrates its 50th year, we are enthusiastic to add their passion for La Lumiere and their perspectives from their successful business experiences.”

The Board of Trustees, which consists of 18 members, is responsible for the governance of La Lumiere School.  La Lumiere, an independent school enrolling 220 students, was founded in the Catholic tradition and is accredited by the Independent School Association of the Central States and is part of the National Association of the Independent Schools and the Catholic Boarding School Association.

Mr. Kerrigan lives in Tokyo, Japan where he is Managing Director of Equity Execution Services for Citigroup Global Markets Japan.  His previous positions include Chief Executive Officer of Prospect Asset Management, Inc. in Honolulu, Hawaii; Managing Director at UBS Securities Japan; and Vice President of Sales at CS First Boston in Japan.  Mr. Kerrigan received both his BA and MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Smith is the Secretary of Commerce for the state of Indiana.  Mr. Smith, a member of Governor Mike Pence’s cabinet, leads the state’s domestic and international economic development agenda.  His January 2013 appointment as Secretary of Commerce follows a 17-year career of operations, sales and executive positions, including chief executive officer of a precision manufacturing company with locations in the United States, United Kingdom and Asia.

A native of Muncie, Indiana, Mr. Smith is a graduate of Colgate University and earned his law degree from the Catholic University of American in Washington, D.C.
